What is a trip like?
Describe a typical trip, include the lodging, traveling and eating details….
What have previous team members said about their experiences?
- “The most rewarding experience of my life!”
- “I feel it opened my eyes about a lot of things about life. It helped me as much as we helped them.”
- “I expected that we’d be roughing it, but it was like a nice vacation with a God centered itinerary.”
- “I'll never be the same again.”
- “Unlike any mission trip I’d ever been on, we were focused on serving the Lord all day, and in the evening we had time in our very comfortable hotel to renew and relax. Wonderful accommodations!”
- “I was worried about safety, but once I got there I realized how unnecessary it was to worry. I followed the common sense instructions we were given and I never felt concerned about it while we were out.”
What are the trip standards?
When we depart on a short-term mission we have standards of expectations for our team. Here are a few of the standards:
- God is at the center of all that we do, we go to be Christ’s hands and feet, we don’t go to vacation.
- Empowering each other, we lift each other up to be all that God has called us to be.
- We get together in the evening for a time of worship, thanksgiving and devotion, all are expected to attend.
- We act in a way becoming of our Lord and Savoir.
Who can go as a team member?
Any believer who is over the age of 18 is invited to be a team member on any of the mission trips held throughout the year. Anyone under the age of 18 can attend, if accompanied by a parent at all times during the trip.
What is the cost and what is included?
The trip costs vary but generally range from $1,200 to $1,500 depending on the price of the airfare and hotel accommodations. The hotel usually costs around $30 a night if you share a room, food is relatively inexpensive at the restaurants nearby. We have refrigerators in our rooms, and trips to the grocery store to pick up a variety of American staples, like Lucky Charms, Oreo’s, Milk Cheese and Crackers, make it feel like home. Although we recommend trying fried plantains and empanadas…. You can eat grilled cheese and chicken salad any time you want. We also split the costs of transportation, but the costs are usually minimal. Specifics details pertaining to the costs are discussed at the meeting prior to the actual mission trips.
